  • Wiper pivot? What is this called?

    Hey guys,

I've had a problem with my wipers for a minute, seemed the motor was working but nothing was moving. I found the problem today, the drivers side wiper arm...pivot...bearing housing? Well its frozen, but I don't know what to call it so I'm having a time finding a replacement.

Its the actual swing point of the drivers side arm, like if you took the arm off and we're looking at the little spline cone, it's that, well along with the rest of the unit anyway.

Does anyone know what that is called?

Also, I am trying to understand the park mechanism, I believe when I shut the motor off it should go in reverse a little bit to park the blades. It's not doing that, so I suspect the wiper board is bad? any opinions on that?

I had to replace that unit in my girlfriends G6 and in her car it was called the "wiper transmission"

i had a gtp once where the wiper would go up but not come down. Turns out where the arm bolted to the linkage the bolt (just the top is threaded, it has the grooves to hold the arm in place) had slowly stripped itself over time and wasnt locking so it seemed as though the whole thing was frozen but really it just didnt have any grip to turn itself. sorry its hard for me to explain as i have no idea what any of the wiper assembly parts are called... :/
