  • Adjusting window regulator?

Anyone have any tips for adjusting a window regulator? Ive finished the swap to a manual regulator on my passenger door completed but its not good enough for me to call it "done." The regulator is in good shape and works properly with no excess play or anything, but I just cannot get it to put the window up high enough. There are various adjustments I have messed with and cannot get it. Its only about a quarter inch short of making a good seal with the roof. I can make it adjust to seal on the front of the window or the back, but not both. Any ideas?

Just found this writeup on shoebox's site, seems pretty detailed but then again the process seemed self explanatory in the first place... I'm gonna give it a read and take another go at it once im done washing/waxing it.

Problem has not been solved yet lol.

And yes Nate haha. It technically closes, it just isnt putting enough tension on the seal. I had a towel down on the seat.

I know when you replace the power window motor you clamp the window to mesh gear and not let window fall down with motor removal. I would assume installing manual regulator would be simular process. Sounds like you are 1 tooth off on the gear mesh and glass simply does not go high enough, therfore none of the adj work.

Actually its not because you swap everything to install the manual regulator. To my knowledge the gear mesh doesnt even come apart, so i dont think it would be possible for me to be a tooth off. Its all one unit permanlty locked together.

Well i digress... it looks like the teeth situation has to be exactly what is going on but I am completely stumped how that happened or how i even fix that. I have the other one on the bench in front of me and im not seeing a way.

The upper limit adjustments are maxed out and the window is not even hitting it.

Upon further investigation, there does appear to be some worn rivets that may have allowed for enough flex for the mechanism to jump a tooth. I have concluded that must be what happened, however still haven't taken it apart to do anything about it

yea i have the same problem but i think my problem is caused because where the gear actually bolts to the car door assembly is all chipped away so it actually sits like 1/4 inch below normal. so im not sure what to do but i have a small hole right in the front side of the window because it wont go up high enough lol i even had carstar readjust the window as best as they could still no dice

drill new holes about 3/8" above the existing ones
