Racing Seat Mounting

Ok I'm about to tackle one of my Winter/spring tasks. My car has a Summit Racing seats and they sit way to high. So what I lower the seats vertically and still maintain the ability to adjust the seating position back and forth. The current seats have the correct seat brackets for the car but it feels like my head is touching the headliner.

Has anyone made their own seat brackets? Or altered a set and if so how did you do it? I have access to the tools and material to do the fabricating. I just would like to hear other people’s ideas and experiences before I tackle this task.

If it comes down to it I will start hunting a set of front stock seats.

I made my own brackets that utilize all the available space to mount the seats in the absolute lowest position possible. Theyre not that hard to make, basically a piece of C-channel with a strategic bend in it (to clear the floorboard on the pass side) and a bracket welded to the side. I give credit to sean for the original design concept, i had to improve it to be able to fit in my car

Thank You!! I found the part of the post with all the seat pictures and information... They turned out great so if I can take the spacers between my seat tracks and seats out by using those brackets I might be able to gain 1-2" of head room clearance. Now I just need my DD back so we aren't depending on the Camaro as the wifes DD anymore. UGH

I ended up taking the corbeau brackets that I had and cutting 1.5" out of them because my seats were too high. Basically made a template, used a band saw to cut the feet off and down to size then used the TIG to weld them back on.
