  • Enter Nates Z28 Issues....

As copied from my CZ28 thread.

    I have a 1996 Z28 with a 6 speed.

Recently put eBay headers on my car. When I put the headers on we took the air pump and EGR off the car.

I had MadTuner tune my PCM.

When I start my car the security system goes on and off, abs light is on, and the traction control light is on. The security system goes off after a few min, as soon as I get in the car it starts going on and off again. We didnt touch the abs brakes and only moved the traction pump out of the way.

I had my battery tested and it tested out fine. Didnt trust it so I had a friend drive his camaro up today and tried his battery, car does the same thing.

When I am in the car I can hear a relay deep in the dash making noise.

I have a 50 htz module and ignition relay grounded out to get past my vats system.

Please give me some ideas on what to try, what to do, etc.

I think I can get rid of the 50 htz box and un ground the ignition relay now that I have Vats tuned out of the PCM.

All fuses look good, all turn signal, brake, etc are brand new and work.
Other than this, I dont know what to even try.

Thats a good place to start, is the only ground on these cars the one right next to the battery?

        I don't know LT1s, but LS1 have multiple grounds..

There are at least 3 ground points on the LT1 cars, other than the battery. I know that there is one that runs from the ICM/coil bracket over to the LH inner frame (by your ABS). There is another that runs from around your PCM over to the starter area. Plus there is the one that runs to a ground junction from the battery. Can't remember if there is another one, off the top of my head.( I had to chase down a ground issue last summer)

It almost has to be whatever tells the alarm to arm and disarm. It is acting normally, just that it doesn't shut off when the car starts. Is that vats?

You have to keep the starter relay grounded. VATS in the PCM only controls fuel injectors. The BCM controls ground to the starter relay.

Have you had any issues with your car since the vats issues? You just grounded your starter really and its been fine..right?

Something else I noticed was that I can use my power locks to lock the doors, but not unlock. WTF?

I grounded the starter relay and tuned it out of the PCM. The BCM controls the starter relay, radio, and power locks. I think it's a part of the factory alarm system too.

Bla. New BCM. this is going to be a disaster.
