  • Brakes acting weird after swap.

After I did my swap my low trac light comes on and the pedal drops about an inch. It only does this at very low speeds, ~5-10 mph.
I can brake fine at higher speeds. Some have said I need to bleed the brakes better, or in a sequience. Others say it's the ABS speed sensor.

Did you bleed the brake far to near?

Rear Passenger, Rear Driver, Front Passenger, Front Driver?

And I scanned it, no DTCs or ABS codes.

Air in the ABS module? If LT1's have an ABS module?

            Used to own a Firebird.

I don't know but to properly bleed brakes you must do far to close. So the same pattern as I said. That ensures all air is out of the lines.

The one that is the longest distance from the Master Cylinder gets bled first, closest one gets bled last.

Air will compress (air compressors? haha) so if there is air in the line it will compress hence your pedal drop. Hydraulic fluid (brake fluid) will not compress.

Don't know if that will cause low traction to come on but I would rebleed the brakes anyway.

might need to bleed the master cylinder as well if you let that go dry

                    Which one?
Like an abs or the one in the transmission

Sounds exactly like my V6 did when I put in the rear end from a 2002 Camaro. The ABS wiring was different between the newer ls1 and my v6 rear end. Unplug the Wiring from the rear end to the connector and see if that fixes it (your light would be on all the time though). The ls1 rear had wheel speed sensors at each wheel while my v6 had just the one on the top of the pumpkin. I'm not sure if this relates to your problem though?

If you have air in the ABS module, you need to get it out. From what I've read online, to do this, you need to get the ABS to fire, then re-bleed them again after you do that. You can do this by taking it onto a slick surface and hitting the brakes hard, when I did mine, I purposely did it when the driveway was covered in ice and snow, then I backed up to the end of the drive, got moving forward, and locked up the brakes. The ABS fired, I pulled back into the garage, re-bled them at all 4 corners and at the ABS module, and all was fine after that.

this is a common problem on gm cars. its normally from corrosion under the speed sensor mount. gm's fix was to remove the sensor, clean and put grease around it. the corrosion forms and lifts the sensor changing the air gap. the added gap cause the sensor to loose signal around 5mph or so. when this happens the abs says OHH crap, wheel lockup and releases that wheel causing the pedal drop.
usually happens when pulling into driveways and such

The speed sensor in the transmission?
People use speed sensor interchangeably, so I have to ask.

I bled the brakes how GM says to in my shop manual, still exactly the same.
