Interesting discusion! If the "SS" or "WS6" badge on a car is so important to you then go buy a ws6 or ss camaro. Don't be a poser, besides REAL CAR people admire the cars condition and how it sounds and drives not the badge it carries. Teeny bopper look at badges and say wow!

Yep, like with my Cobalt - I will never, ever, call it an SS, because it is not one.

I, still, display my WS.6 badge on my car. It is a real WS.6, but as far as resale value the WS.6 is meaningless as my car is so far from stock the WS.6 package really means nothing.. I just like the badge..

so here is another question: Lets say you have an SS or WS6 clone, you put the badges and everything on it yourself. Do you still register it as an SS or WS6 in a car show, such as the meet & greet?

I would register it as a WS6 clone

I, personally, would not.. I would have nothing against someone registering as a SS or WS6 "Clone" in a show...

agreed. I think that would be 100% ok. But do you think it would be ok if they just register it as "1997 Camaro SS" or "1996 Pontiac Trans Am WS6"?

No, but without checking codes, we'd never know.... Well depending on the show and how in depth the judging goes..

Not my problem if someone wants to be a poser.

I'm sure plenty of people have misrepresented Cars at Car Shows.
At least at our show we're not numbers biased enough to want proper documentation. We just vote for what we like or what catches our eye.

I would like to address another point in this.
Why would someone want to clone a car to make it look like everyone elses ?
If your going to buy a hood and wheels why not go a more individual route ?
                              Case in point
I have a Factory WS6 hood, It's been on the car since 1999 when I picked it up at a swap meet for $250. Now all I would of had to do was get some WS6 wheels and a badge and I'm a clone. But instead I chose to be different and go with a more personal look. I chose to stand out instead of be a cookie cutter.

Don't fear different, because different is good.

If I had a yenko clone it sure wouldn't be a factory spec driveline either....
