Whats makes a SS a SS and a WS6 a WS6?

What i am saying is that if I buy a 97 TA, and put on all the WS6 parts...is the wrong to put WS6 badges on it? Technically it is a WS6 because it has WS6 parts on it.

in the eyes of the law the vin and rpo codes say it all. oesnt matter what yoi do to the car.

The WS6 car - because it has the RPO WS6 tag - would sell for a premium. The parts added to a car by the private owner doesn't normally justify a premium. Just like on the 5th gens, the people who ordered early got a special tag (I can't remember what it was) but it's assumed that people who have that special RPO code with their 5th gen could be valuable down the road.


As for chicken or the egg -- the answer is the egg: Dinsoaurs were laying eggs long before chickens came around, so the egg came before the chicken.

yes it is wrong. technically its not a ws6, it was not made that way from the factory. do not put a ws6 badge on a non ws6 car. It is not the parts that define it, it is the vin and rpo codes.

Its not like I really care what ppl do to their own cars - but why would you want to make your car something out to be that its not. Kindaof poserish if you ask me.

This friday in dearborn I saw a pontiac G8 with the cadillac "V" badge as well as an SS badge ... all on the trunklid with the stock G8 GT badges.

I would say if you try to pass it of as a real deal at a sale its wrong or at a car show copy cats should say its not real....A couple of years ago out cruising and a look a like goes by me its was dressed up just like my 97 ss 30th ann. but it was a 6 cly. chased him down he tryied to get away caught up to him and said nice try and drove away.

im with the "as long as its not being passed as a real when selling" group... same goes the other way..people see i have a turbo trans am..i get the 'are you saying it has a turbo transmission?' comments
