  • LT-1 running rich on down shift

I'm sick of my car blowing out black smoke when down shifting or during high rpm acceleration. She seem's to run fine and sometimes I can see the black smoke coming out through the rear view mirror during high rpm runs. My buddy after the Cragis car show said that when I down shift on the high way and take off that you can't even see my car from the back because she is blowing out so much black smoke.

I do have a madz28.com tune. I have a slight exhaust pop.... not as bad as I did with the stock tune. I think the tune is off in the higher rpm band? I know that my stupid Edelbrock shortie headers aren't sealed good at the driver side cat. It is impossible to seal that stupid flange. The only other thing I can think of that may be wrong is the time I grounded out a wrench on the passanger side O2 sensor..... OOOooops.... that was a big spark. I was also told not to use brand new O2 sensors on new headers with ceramic coating????

Like I said she runs fine... However I know I have exhaust issues. Most of the problems however are past the O2 sensors as far as leaks are conserend so I am stumped. Anyone have any opinions? Would a decent laptop with a tuner program be able to give me an idea of where my problem is if I did a few runs? I'm sure if my car runs good now I have alot of power to free up if I can get my rich condition fixed.

DCFO ( decel fuel cutoff ) and VE tables values might be the issue.

Look's like I'm going to have to do some research on the whole computer tune stuff. I will probably be getting the OBD cable this week and see if I can get her pluged in. If I do some runs can I record them and email them to someone? What program to use?
