  • Will original parts ever be worth anything?

I know there is no clear cut answer, but will some of the stock parts we all take off and get rid of ever be worth anything?

For instance, I have my salad shooters sitting on my back deck and I know they are pretty much value less right now. In 30 years is anyone going to care about crap like that?

I think the same thing about the 93 Trans Am wheels. I mean, is anyone going to do a restoration in 20 years and put those on?

    Thoughts?

I would think so as in 20 years most of these cars will need full restos if driven daily.

However the future could change and people will have flying cars and forget about the street cars. Or the price of gasoline could necessitate an even bigger cash for clunkers program.

        I think most do.

but will those stock parts really be that valuable? I mean are stock manifolds to a 69z worth that much? Just an interesting thought.

Same here. I see wheels that look horrible and are not worth anything. In 20 years I hope I am not going "I wish I had kept those wheels"

Not that a black 4th gen z28 will every be super valuable lol.

thats why ive recently decided to part with all my useless crap. However, yes certain parts will become valuable. SS parts will continue to hold their premium and gain value in the future. Stock exhaust components? Hell no. They arent valuable from a 69Z either. Now a cross ram manifold on the other hand is a different story. Its really not that hard to predict what will become desired and what wont be.

Hells yeah Nate, you better keep those Salad shooters. Some day they will be worth more than a velvet lined vagina. Right after we watch your episode of hoarders, lol. Eric L

It was horrible..................we found him burried underneath a giant pile of 4th gen camaro emisions parts. We figure the pile got to tall and fell on him as he was trying to squeeze between it and his liscense plate collection............................its really quite a tragedy. BWAHAAAAAAAAAA.

If I had the space, I would store it. But it gets to a point where if it's in the way...then I re-evaluate the worth.

I've got a ton of parts that I'm probably going to end up scrapping from cars I don't own anymore. I know I'm taking 2 engines, and a door to the salvage yard before the snow flies.
Can't sell em, don't have room, so gotta clean it up.

Being an "old" guy, I tossed a lot of removed parts back in the day, exhaust manifolds, intake manifolds, carbs, etc. so much of it was acutally worthless back then. Obviously, there's good money in the stuff now, BECAUSE nobody saved the stuff and there's a demand. Personally, its not worth saving, IMO. Who wants to hold onto stuff for 20 years in the hope it might be worth a couple of hundred dollars. Not me. Might help if you're selling the car and include the removed parts, but that's a personal choice.
