  • Ten Bolt Gears & MPG

Is there a website that I can see what my MPG will be if I swap my gears?

My ten bolt with either need to be replaced or will need work this winter. I was thinking about a little more acceleration.

    thanks

It will stay close to the same in the city and go down on the highway if you gear it deeper. Some people even claim increase in the city when they do gears with there M6.

Fuel mileage is more dependant on how severe the gear change is and the individual's driving style.
But all things being equal you can expect to lose a couple miles per gallon with a gear change.
I personally did not experience any change going from 3.42's to 3.90's but I also had Steve at SB Tuning tune the car aswell.

I was just thinking 4:10. Go big or go home.

I want to stay near 25 hwy if possible though.

you'll be fine, go for it. Thats why you have 6 gears its only a few hundred rpm difference from 3.42s

To be honest I actually got BETTER millage with my 4.10s over my 3.42s. Not enough to be noticable, so it could be coincidence. But I get around 24 highway with the 3.42s and around 25-26 with the 4.10s. I would go with the 4.10s, I loved them with my boltons. Eric L

Just went from 2.74 to 3.73 and added a 2800 converter. Around town mileage went down from 19.5 to 18.5 but that's probably because I'm having so much fun with the gas pedal now.

if youre going to autocross youll want a 4.10 too. I did the course today almost entirely in first gear, and it was almost too much... power was explosive and hard to control. 2nd wasnt enough enough though. With 4.10s, it could probably be done in 2nd.
