new clutch in car and now...

I have no pedal at all.

Had my flywheel resurfaced, took 35 thousands off.

I broke the slave cylinder so my dad bought a new one, installed it and...I have no pedal pressure. To drive the car, from the floor about half in inch is all the pedal I have, everything else is just dead.

Is there a way to bleed this system?

Any ideas?

Yes you need to bleed the system and get the air out of the lines. I had to do this on a friends ricer, I believe the bleeder screw was on the slave cylinder in his car, I have no idea in the LT1's. But you might be able to find a diagram online.

Bleeder screw is on the d/s of the trans way up near the bellhousing, and it's way up there. On the LS1 cars you need a 1/2" deepwell to get at it, it's in a recessed area on the side.

There is no bleeder screw on an LT1. You have to do it manually.

EDIT:

Instructions - Take the slave cylinder out of the bellhousing (keeping all lines attached). Make sure that there is DOT 3 brake fluid in the reservior and it is not in the black plastic diapgram itself and actually in the reservoir. Then push in and out on the slave cylinder with your hand until pedal is fine. This can take a long time so be prepared. I did mine for like 40 min. Call me at 248-660-3174 if you have a hard time and I'll walk you through it. It can be a PITA

You can gravity bleed it first then use a vacuum pump to finish the job, all by yourself like I did! I do have an inch or so of travel in the top of my pedal though, either an air pocket I can't get out or my master is shot. Still disengages/engages fine.

you cant really gravity bleed an LT1 system. It just doesnt work that way, I've tried it and it isnt too effective. I think the LS1 may be different.

Didn't know LT1's don't have a bleeder. Have heard that they are self-bleeding or something before. Used a mityvac on mine to get the last of the air out, took what seemed like forever.

yes. you will know when its right. dont pump the slave fast, be veryyyy slow if anything

Well my dad and uncle actually got my manual out and read how to do this(just like you said ryan) and they did it for me.

Got to drive my car home tonight


I have only drove one other LT1 M6 car, and I think mine is pretty close now. Trans works perfect, no problems taking off, no vibrations.

Its almost.......dare I say...perfect.
My SES light is off now too.

Going to take it to work in the morning and see what happens.
