  • Slow Trap Speed?

I went to the track for the first time ever on Sunday. I ran on worn out Sumitomo 315/35/17 HTRs
It was around 89 degrees. I was having to bog the car off the line to keep from spinning.

My run was a 13.32 et at 110MPH Trap with a 2.307 60 FT, 8.801 1/8th ET. I know my driving sucked and the weather wasn't the best but I was expecting a higher trap speed from my car given the mods I have. What should a full weight 6 speed car with my mods trap?

i think your about right but you should be down about a full second off that et with a 110 trap speed

What rpm were you shifting at? What rpm did you cross the line at?

normally trap will go up with wheel spin but a 2.30 60 is so bad i bet it hurt trap.
with 3.73 you are probaby shifting close to the line.
        4.11 would be better

110 is very weak for a cam only M6 car IMO. Near stock M6 cars should be trapping that. I would like to see 115-116 for any cammed M6 car making 380RWHP or more which I'm sure your making.

Thats what Im wondering about I was bogging the car are the start because when my tire would break lose they where just going up in smoke and to be fair Im not the best driver. But My car also has Unported 243 heads that where milled to give me 11-1CR so I figured it would trap a bit higher then that considering unless something is wrong it should be making atleast 400rwhp.. I run my car with the cutout closed all the time but opened it for the track could that have caused the fueling to be off on the tune? BTW the car seems to run good and shows not signs of mechanical problems.

Also I was Not power shifting could this create such a big drop in mph

                my 224 trapped like 112 with 4.10's
                bogging hurts trap speeds alot.
i also shifted at like 61-6200

Ok Im really glad to hear that Like I said this was my first trip to the track and Im sure Ill improve in time Im just worried that there could be something wrong with the car.
Bogging could cause such a low trap speed though?

My car was also plagued by clutch pedal issues most of the day swapping the clutch fluid after every pass seemed to cure this issue though Im assuming its time for the drill mod also.

if the fluid is turning black i can almost guarantee the clutch is slipping

I wasn't turning black. Its is a stock LS6 clutch though but it only has 20k miles on it and I dont notice any slipping in high gears on the track or freeway

Seems about right, im trapping 108-110 in the 5.3 with the same cam, but in in the high 12s, same problem as you though, spinning off the line with horid 60's. I know my car is good for mid 12s, im sure yours(pretty identical engine mods, just a few more cubes) should be good for low 12s.

If the clutch is slipping that would hurt your mph for sure, I agree with Larry though you could be hurting your mph with that bad of a 60' time. Also you may want to check the DA on your passes and see what corrected mph would be, if the weather was bad that can affect you just as much.
