  • MSD Opti spark question

I know that when the MSD Opti frist came out there were problems with them but has anyone heard of there being problems as of late? Is this a worthwhile purchase? I belive my opti has recently begun to fail and I came across an msd opti for a VERY good price. The problem is that is was installed and never worked. The guy told me thathe lost his receipt and could not return it so it has just been sitting there ever since. After contacting MSD they told me that the maximum repair cost would be $125. So I could have a rebuilt brand new MSD opti for less then $250 is it worth it or should I use a Delphi unit from the parts lady?

Everything I have heard is to stay away from the MSD ones, just had that conversation again recently, damn If I can remember with who though. I think your safest bet is a OEM one or a bypass kit. I have 160,xxx on my stock one and I've gone through like 4 water pumps but its still going strong, luck of the draw I think.

Personally I'd always stay away from MSD. Heard about too many issues with them.

In the same line of thinking has anyone heard anything about the accel or dynaspark ones?

Buy a GM opti. Why MSD is having so many problems with thiers is beyond me. Normally MSD mades AWSOME stuff, but thier opti was a total fail and should be avoided. Eric L

My Formula had a MSD in it when I bought it, but I don't know if it was causing any problems or not due to other issues with the motor.
