Pulling the rear seat?

Hey guys I'm currently pulling the upper rear seat from my 97' Z28. It looks like a large torx head screw on each side, I have the bit but it seems like im stripping the screw out. I dont see a nut of any kind and I cant see why it would be so damn tight, its a pretty big screw so it takes some force to strip, but its not easy to reach and get a good seat. I sprayed some pb blaster on it and let it sit even though its not rusted.

Am I removing the right thing? any tips or tricks? Thanks in advance

Buy lots of bits and use lots of PB. It's rusted in place and it's a real ***** to loosen. Removing the rear seats is the exact reason why I hate torx bits.

I tried removing mine and it came out no problem, then I realized that the seat back only weighs like 5lbs so I said screw it and put it back in. Should be the two torx bolts on the lower sides.

WELL DAMMIT! I went to get new set of bits this morning to get the thing out, sprayed it down with PB again and stripped the damn things out, Now I have no idea how to get it out, If the robot that assembled my car had a neck I'd throttle it! For stuff like this I would have hit with the gas torch for a bit before trying to pull it but with all the carpet and seat material (not to mention 13 years of stored up beer farts in the cushions) I didn't think it the wisest idea. I dont even think I could fit anything in there to cut the bolt head off....bugger all

You'll probably have to use one of those tools where you drill into the bolt head and then use an extractor to turn it. But good luck with that - the bolts are hardened.

Its not even that, there no room for that type of thing, I could try grinding flats onto the other side if the bolt for vise grips to grab but it not a lot of surface area. tell you what , I get these things off Im gonna fling em as far as I can, my luck I'll run over em later and get a flat

Did you take the lower seat cushions out yet? My upper came out no problem after the lowers were out, there was enough room to get in there with the torx bit. . .

What kind of bits are you using? I used hardened torx sockets on a 1/2" drive ratchet, came right out. Are you taking the car to the Lingenfelter Collection viewing on Saturday? I could bring the tools and break those bolts loose for you if you'd like.

what bolt are you trying to remove?
there is a 13mm nut on each hinge on the bottom and 2 small torx holding the seatbelt guide on each side

Wait, those are nuts on the other side? you've gotta be kidding me, I thought those were just a part of the bracket. If I stripped those screws because I was too dumb to pull a nut off...

pull the lower buckets then the nuts are facing down
