I have been looking around lately to try to figure out a specific path for my car. What i have decided upon is a four seater, street-able corvette c6-r. i have the auto-x/handling part figured out but what I am having trouble with is the engine performance. Even thought it is contradictory to popular muscle car performance, i really don't like my car to lope at idle. i like it to be smooth mid to deep tone but not too deep. Is there a cam that will produce this sound without reducing performance? Am I in the middle of no-mans-land? i would like to be around 450-500hp n/a when all said and done, whenever that is. Would it be best to do a stroker or just bore. i know one of the first thing i am going to do is to chuck out the opti, but it doesn't necessarily have to stay lt1 . Fairly far down the road I am going to do a twin-screw setup, so i would like to plan for it. i know its a lot of questions but i would really like to set goals for my car so i can plan and save for them. thanks for all the help in advanced guys. i very much appreciate it.

Without being an ass....
you will have to install a Lamboghini motor in your formula for it to sounds like a lambo or record a lambo exhuast clip and play it through your sound system.
I think it will be pretty difficult to achieve 500 hp with a NA lt1 and not have a decent sized cam that sounds agressive.
Good Luck

that's what i was kind of afraid off. well i guess that part is out of the equation. so basically a high reving lt1 with the right compression ratio and cylinder wall thickness to run 8-12psi.

12 lbs of boost on a stock LT1......."boom goes the dynamite"Originally posted by jetice91 View Postthat's what i was kind of afraid off. well i guess that part is out of the equation. so basically a high reving lt1 with the right compression ratio and cylinder wall thickness to run 8-12psi.
LT1 were not made to handle boost even if added thick head gaskets to lower the compression
By the way more boost does not equal more power.
I think you should rethink what you want. I would consider a head, cam, and gear swap and call it good. KISS..... Keep It Simple StupidLast edited by bri2203; May 1st, 2010, 10:57 PM.

Who doesn't think the sound of a lope in a cam is orgasmic?!?!?!
The lope is the overlap. Overlap creates power, well the right amount of overlap.Originally posted by Yoshi94Mines about an inch bigger than Kyles. I need to get one of thosesigpicOriginally posted by ryanwarby01Put it this way, if you have a money tree a LT1 is a wood chipper!

Don't get me wrong, i love f-body's. i just wand like a street-able, 4-seater corvette C6-r. i love the way those sound at high rpms and the power they make. should i consider converting to lsx? I don't want to sell my car because i love of the early fourth gens. I want to be like my dad and be able to say when I am 45, that i still have my first car.

The LS7R camshaft.
248/256 .658/.658 114+3 (with 1.8 rockers) Camshaft!
2300-7000 RPM Power Band; This is an excellent performance camshaft with a race car idle! Custom tuning will be required for this camshaft!

A LT1 can sound like that? Look up a GM847 cam.
