  • Crankcase evap question

I am returning my LT1 to a sealed crankcase evap setup. Is the port on the pass side rear valve cover incoming air or outgoing air for the crankcase. I was going to use a PCV valve with a 90 degree elbow and some polished aluminum 3/8 hard line to run it to the throttle body. If its for incoming air, ill have to either get a plain elbow or cut the clicker out of the PCV valve I got. Any input is appreciated. Thanks, Eric L

Any reason why you're doing this? The rings I have (Total Seal) don't use a PCV system. I had 2 aluminum plugs made, one for the passenger side valve cover and one for the intake on the drivers side. I have a breather where the oil fill is. Hope this helps.

I run total seal rings in my race car, and yes, you do need some sort of evacuation set up. It will work the way you have it set up, but no matter what rings you have, your going to build crank case pressure. And the more efficently you remove the air, the better you are. I run a vacuum pump on my total seals. I dont think that one breather is enough crank case evaporation in your set up. The reason im doing this in the Camaro is to keep the oil from misting onto the valve cover. The pass side valve cover is the incoming air, and the driver side intake is the pcv where the air is sucked out, IIRC. Eric L
