i noticed a significant gain in power with my duals over a single 3" with a cutout and no cats.... but my car is cammed.

Tailpipes wont reduce the volume that much but it will DRASTICALLY cut down the interior racket. Hell, just having turndowns aimed correctly cut the interior noise down noticeably.

haha yeah, when we removed it so we could take out the engine, we discovered there was a GAPING hole in the bellhousing, like big enough for me to stick my hand in. There was also a crack going from the hole all the way over the top to the other side. I could pull the top part of the housing apart, so yeah, we figured I shouldn't be driving it around like that lol.

yeah, I'm mostly concerned with interior noise (I'd like to drive around without having to yell to hold a conversation), although not getting pulled over for loud exhaust would be nice too.

Than just run a cat back with a cutout. Heck, my wife (Rebecca) has been driving the SS around for 2 weeks with the cutout open. When she gets tired of the noise, ill cap it off. The best of both worlds IMHO. Eric L

I just found some ceramic-coated Pacesetter longtubes, 5k miles, for $280 shipped. My friend thinks that I should snatch them up right away. What do you guys think?

also, what does a good cat-back setup usually cost? The cheapest I've seen online is about $430 for a Magnaflow kit. Quotes I've gotten from exhaust shops have been about the same for a true-dual setup, only that's including installation.

sweet! they are honestly the first mod that needs to be done on any v8, along with ditching all the emissions
