  • Help please!!!

My car had been running great until out of no wear the fuel gage went way past full , the car shut off and wont start back up. does anyone have an idea of what could cause this.

The fuel gauge is based off the floater on the fuel pump. If the car shut off and won't start I'd reckon the fuel pump went kaput.

Yup, I would begin with the fuel pump itself. Can you hear it prime when you turn the car on?

an gm mechanic told when the gas tank looses a ground on a gm it cause the fuel gauge to go past full, well i just started checking the wire, making sure it was getting power and was grounded, all the wired are fine and it started right up.
