  • Few Questions

I am looking at an airfoil. There is a TPIS one that says increases 36cfm. The SLP only says 30cfm. Well the problem is the Trick Flow elbow I am looking at says it fits with the SLP ones. Will it fit with the TPIS?

    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SLE-22100/?rtype=10 SLP Airfoil
    http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?d...N0SM2EPTSU1ALF TPIS foil.
    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-3150801/ Trick Flow Elbow

Also what at the widest tires I can fit without wheel spacers or rubbing?

    Currently have 275/45/R17s.

Or what are good grip tires? I have BF Goodrich G-Force in the rear. They spin to easy. I heard Nitto 555Rs are good, but any one got a different tire to look at?

it has been proven via datalogs that the stock elbow is actually pretty restrictive, and in my experience I have found it to be very true. The problem with the airfoil is that is "increasing" your flow behind an already known restriction so i doubt you will see much gain.

If you want an intake setup that REALLY breathes (and i mean this made a hell of a difference on my car), check out my writeup for an LS1 lid conversion. I Installed both that and an airfoil on my car at the same time and my car has never pulled so hard in its life. This job is a lot of work though, id estimate at least 4-5 hours for it. You need to cut an LS1 rad support, your core support, and your hood. But having done it now, I think it was worth it.

My car is cammed though, so its pulling a bit more air through it than a stock setup.

Well I already have a K&N Cold Air intake. I am just looking at small mods right now. Plan is to put in Lloyd Elliot head/cam combo. Then sometime 383 Stroker.

Yep, i remember from when both kyle and ryan owned it haha.

But anyway, I had an SLP CAI on my car and there was a big difference in going from the CAI to a lid. The 90 degree turn in the elbow is what is restrictive, the K&N CAI itself actually flows quite good.

An airfoil certainly cant hurt, I am just saying dont expect much out of it. For now, I think your money is best spent on getting a good set of headers. The stock manifolds are what is choking that engine out the most right now.

Any good headers? I like hooker headers but they run around 520 bucks for painted ones. Cause in the Saturn modding Pacesetters are called S*itsetters. They peel with in days and rust out.

Haha that's what I am looking at but I have to bank a few checks. The insurance and registration drained my account haha.

Hookers probably arent your best option. They are the largest primary which isnt really necessary (cramped in the engine bay), and they also hang the lowest out of any longtube header. That said, they are likely to be one of the best performers, albeit marginally.

i recommend pacesetters or LPP stainless headers. You can also try your luck with ebay stainless headers but do your homework on them as they are hit or miss.

Granted, my car doesnt see rain. Moisture + 800 degrees = rust.

if youre going to be driving it in the rain, you might want to go for stainless otherwise pacesetters are a very reputable header for fbodies.

Also would these fit? The bulb I replaced was a 9005XS but I had to cut a tab off to make them fit even though the one that came out didn't need it clipped.

headers will wake up that car like no other. Save for the coated Pacesetters. any drag radials will be better than a street tire if you're looking for a little more traction

but also dangerous behind a 6 speed. I had a set for a week and got rid of em. The way the car would catch traction violently and out of nowhere after a spin scared the crap of me.

I was assuming that he would know that it would be tough on the rear. Longtubes are by far the best bolt on mod IMO, feels like a different car
