  • LT hgeaders with slight bend?

    http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/pts/1609951220.html

Think the little bend would restrict airflow enough to notice? Got him down a decent amount on price if the bend wouldnt matter i might pick them up. Seeing im a noob at this stuff wanted to check with my Guru's first

are you referring to the dent in the primary? If so I wouldn't worry about that at all.

I wouldn't think it would make a difference. Especially if your car is stock, no cam etc.

If your worried about it you can always pull those dents out with a (no drill) dent puller. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=3223
This is were you weld a stud on the dent and pull it out, then grind the stud off. Since these are so thick you will have to heat them up with a torch first before pulling the dents out.
I did this on my sons 2 stroke expansion chamber on his race bike and it worked great.

You will probably find out that the dent was put in there for instalation purposes. You can take it out if you like, but you will probably end up putting it back in. Eric L

Shouldnt cost to much for the items to install either like bolts and what not should it? I'd assume there's special bolts/nuts you need for these right?

Go to automasters on division and get some mr gasket header bolts. bring a manifold bolt with to match the thread unless someone chimes in with the thread size. You can try to use the locking type, but the headers are pretty tight on our cars and make use of those types of bolts difficult. Hope this helps, Eric L

And FWIW, that dent looks like it was put in there to clear the steering shaft. Every car is differant. Me and a friend had LT1 camaros. We both bought bbk shortie headers. I had to remove my steering shaft to install mine, and he had to dent the floor on the pass side slightly to make his fit. EVERY car is differant for header clearance. Hope this helps, Eric L

I agree, to high. Summit sells them for under $300 new. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PSM-70-2239/

If it were me, I would offer him $100 for them if they are in good shape with only surface rust. Maybe settle on $150 when all the bargening is done. Once headers start to rust to bad, they are junk. Hence the reason i will never own a set of uncoated headers. Condensation is murder on painted headers. My BBKs are chrome, which was all i could afford at the time, but it was the cheapest coated header out there. And now, 8 years later, they are still in great shape. Just my .02, Eric L

I work for a coating company, so that paint would be blasted off and coated before they even touched the car . Got him down to 145 on them i thought it was a decent deal

Yeah, I think thats a good deal. Just remember this. Headers rust from the inside out. So you want to spray as much coating INSIDE the header as possible. Who do you work for if i may ask? I like coatings, lol. Good luck, Eric L
