Alright, I bought my car at a deep discount, and I've poured my heart and soul into it since I've had it. The day I bought it, the ABS INOP light was on, and it's stayed on since I got it. The BRAKE light in the instrument cluster was also on, but I fixed that. . . Well, I read somewhere that the third brake light in the spoiler sometimes causes this since the ABS system and third brake light are grounded to the same location. My third brake light hasn't worked since I bought the car either. I tore apart my hatch today, determined to fix my brake problems. Well, I found a bad connection in the hatch wiring harness, so I repaired it, and now my third brake light works perfectly. The ABS INOP light is still on, and my ABS doesn't work, the brakes just lock up. I need to get my brakes fixed, because every time it rains/snows/anything worse than a sneeze, I end up almost skidding to my death. I ran the scanner on it, and the code came up saying "RELAY CONTACT CIRCUIT OPEN" That's all I know, that's all I want to know until I get the frickin' brakes fixed. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions? Sorry for the long post. . . Also, I had to unplug the MLPS connector on the trans because every time it rained and I put the car in reverse, the turn signal/back-up lamp fuse would blow. . . HELP ME!!!!!

Schweet Lemme know what you come up with! I've been searching online for the weak points in the 93-95 V6 Camaro ABS systems, but haven't found anything yet.Nick H.

if the light is on solid in a gm vehical meaning ABS isnt working but your standard brakes still work... then 9 time outta 10 the switch somewere in your front or rear brakes has eaither fallen off gotten dirty or cut... i had the same problem on many cars... go to each tire you should be able to see it without taking the tire off.. its a little 2 or 3 wire clip that plugs into the caliper/drums to controll the ABS signal... just see if its connected if so disconnect it get some electronic contact cleaner and clean out any dirt or corrosion... not hard to do if that still doesnt work check all the wires connected to the plugs and make sure there are no breaks in the wires... if one plug is out the hole system is out because abs on 3 tires is worse than none at all... if that still doesnt work then try replacing the relay for it... and from there it gets to complicated to fix yourself could be a problem in the computer/main harness or something crazy after that i wouldnt worry about it... because it would cost more to get it fixed than its worth... atleast you have power brakes think of your poor grandpa..lolOriginally posted by Frank The TankTook the restrictor plate off to give the Red Dragon a little more juice. Thanks a lot, Dave! I'm gonna try those things, and if nothing else, I'll just put fixing it off until I get my winter beater on the road and I can take the time to do it right. Gonna check all of the electrical connections tomorrow. Beleive me, I am thinking of my Grandpa. . . He's got a '57 Buick Roadmaster w/ 4 wheel drums. . . lol I'm detailing it for him in about a week, I'll be sure to get a few pics for you guys! That car is straight up pimpin'! lt. blue/white two-tone, all original. 60k miles, also original. Beautiful car, minimal body repair. It's not hi-performance, but that thing sure gets some attention at the car shows! I'll let you all know how my brakes come out, I'll be working on those tomorrow afternoon until I fix 'em!Nick H.

ABS is overrated anyways...9" + 3channel = no more ABS for matt either...that ABS INOP along with the ASR light coming on is pretty typical for the LT1 style cars...my buddy joe's old Z28 did the same thing....
i've seen this a million times on LS1tech...if i run into it again i'll let ya know...1998 Camaro SS Bullseye Turbo

take a loot in all the threads that say stuff about their ABS lights on...most all of them point the finger at a crusty corroded wire or sensor missing...1998 Camaro SS Bullseye Turbo

I hate tracing wires. . . I fixed a bad connection in the ground wire for the third brake light in the spoiler, and I thought that would fix it, but alas, it didn't. 3rd brake light works now, the ABS doesn't, though. I'll check all the connections I can find today, but IDK if I'll be able to trace the problem.Nick H.

from what i was reading on it last night. most people were saying check the wheel speed sensors and the abs plug that connects right on your rear end.... another guy was saying that he traced every wire all through the car and finally found 1 wire that was in a HUGE plug of wires that was lose and causing it...talk about a headache....hope you find it....with the amount of miles on your car, im not too suprised if somewhere along the way a wire was pulled out, or a sensor went bad, or a wire corroded over too bad....gotta love michigan winters.....NOT:thumbsdo:1998 Camaro SS Bullseye Turbo
