If Davids LS3 TA was about 500, Jon's TA is well over 400 I think a beefed up 10 should be good. This is a good thread, good info.

Neither car has had a tire on it... No one is contesting that even a stock 10 bolt can live behind a car on street tires thats being roll raced.

exactly! the key word I used was with traction guys, who wants to sit and spin all the time? are road racing tires not a stickier compound as well?

Traction is a keyword, and its also something that youre not going to have the best of with a road-race type suspension. Even with sticky tires, craig is not going to get nearly the same weight transfer as half the people here that have removed their front sway bar all-together and are throwing 3/4 or more of the total weight of the car back on the axle. 1500 pounds on the axle during a launch is a little different than 3000. Sticky tires will still spin under a tight suspension.

If he is going to adjust the setup and do some serious launches he needs a 9" Otherwise my conclusion is he doesnt.

I agree the tighter suspension will not allow the same weight transfer but I'm not looking for 1.50 and under 60' times either. The goal of the car is something like a super car but on a much smaller budget then say a ZO6. I'm not starting with engine mods like so many others do, I wanted a tight suspension with an aggressive stance and good brakes, I have all that. But since the rear is going out and more power is likely in the future the 9" seemed to be a logical choice and will allow the car to be quicker (with traction) even at near stock power. I'm looking at Nitto NT05's which are a bit softer then the rubber I've run in the past.

As for my run in with Pete a year ago that was a shot of me BITD. I normally wouldn't launch hard on the (old) clutch because I have to drive the car for work. But just because I don't usually do that and you havent seen me do it doesn't mean I can't pull a good holeshot. I spent the first couple summers perfecting my street launch technique with this car. So with the LS7 setup, 9" and a little practice time I may surprise the hell out of some people who believe 6spds aren't fast out of the hole, just like I used to do in the summers of `98 and `99.

I'd rather see you stretch the available project money to the fullest and just rebuild the 10 bolt. Because as someone else said earlier, it's already lasted you 130K, so it must have been pretty sufficient to begin with. Use the money you saved from not buying the Moser to get something else you've always wanted for your car!

I'm already getting quite a few things over the next several months and the 9" would be the biggest ticket item.
I've pretty much made up my mind to do it only because I will never have to worry about it again.
