i have 97 trans am with abs i just bought a new rear end. my abs wasnt working in my old rear end. (bit of backround) so i took old rear end out saw the 2 sensor plug ins for the abs (both were plugged in) which were by the rotors. and the new rear end i bought from same year but camaro doesnt have those (so im assuming no abs) but has a sensor plug in right on top of the rear end housing. i called my mechanic and said it could either be a speed sensor or a abs sensor and either way not to worry about it if i dont care about having abs and my car's speed sensors are already working properly. BUT this is a textron i believe is the name... rear end so its not posi but a "smarter version" so i was just wondering if the plug could be for something else.

the rear with the plug on top of the housing is a 3 channel, that plug is for the ABS sensor. The other rear with the sensors on each axel is a 4 channel and is setup for a car with ABS and TCS. If you have a 3 channel car (no TCS) you cannot use a 4 channel rear and keep your ABS. If you have a 4 channel car (ABS and TCS) and want to use a 3 channel rear you just have to swap the axels over and plug in your harness. Hope this helps

are you sure its not a zexel or torsen? but both are forms of a posi unit that come from the factory and neither are anything to write home about they do the exact same thing.Doing less with more
