Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Well I told him that I want this thing to be as bullet proof as I can make it, which is why I am converting to the splayed setup. And I think with that he just thought it would make sense to put a better crank in. He said it would be fine but he doesn't recomend reving it over 7 lol but I told him it probaby won't see over 6500 much. So he was fine after that. Lol but thanks guys for all the info!! I am glad to have you guys!
i dont even agree with that. With the rods you have and 4-bolt caps id have no fear of taking that bottom end right to 7500. Your valvetrain probably wont support that though. I'd say let it do what it wants to do!
and remember Kyle, I know you only want 6500rpm out of the car. But there is a difference between where the cam stops making power and the point where you need to shift. Its usually about 300 rpm higher with a manual
For what its worth i have 226/234 in my car but I have kept the stock 6200rpm rev limiter to preserve the [nearly] 100k mile shortbock. Its like a dog suddenly running out of leash, wants to pull farther. I never even touched the rev limiter before the cam.

really lol but this will be a street car so i dont know how much i will see over 6500 but i am sure it will.
I still wouldnt hesitate to use the stock crank at 7500+ RPM The way I look at this is; if its built prefectly to spec, and the clearances are perfect, it will REALLY increse the amount of power components can handle (plus the stock crank is plenty strong)

i am not sure yet what size of cam i will be running.. i have to talk to mr. elliot first and see what he recomends. but i figure i will probably get a cam that likes to get shifted between 6500-6800 but not sure yet.. ill let you guys know what size i end up running when i find out.
