  • too much fuel pressure

i now have too much fuel pressure. 50 koeo (which is ok) and 75 at idle. my pump blew out the hose inside the tank. i made a trap door. i swapped the pressure regulator and nothing changed. return lines are clear. 255 walbro pump 3.8l

is there vacuum at the regulator? if you have a vacuum pump pull like 18hg on it and watch fuel pressure. the lower the vacuum the higher the pressure. if the FP doesnt change with removing the line and or pulling a vacuum you need a new regulator or the return line is pinched/plugged

i switched the regulator and nothing changed...it also had vacuum. the granatelli tech suggested bigger feed lines. does anybody agree? does anyone know where to get bigger lines to fit my 2002 camaro, particularly the feed line. thanks

the feed line is the same as a v8 i beleive. too much pressure would be from the return line not the feed

I blew out a hose this past summer also. Stock fuel pressure with 255 and 36#

You need to go back to this step. Larry3 is the man.
You need to understand that the pressure you read is really back pressure. If you put 1" lines on feed and return you would have very little pressure.

                confused

ive been looking for adjustable fprs. i felt vacuum at the fpr but i didn't measure it. i looked up a couple of 255 pumps and i found two. one with low pressure and one with high pressure. it looks like i got the wrong one. I STILL need to fix it. can anyone find and an adjustable fpr for an 02 camaro 3.8 liter

Got your PM, here is something to try:

at full operating temp, check fuel psi
then pull the vac line off the FPR
                  FP should rise 7-10 PSI....
then put vac line back on should lower 7-10psi
if not your FPR = bad

leaving the vac line off will usually result in constant fuel pressure usually around 50-55psi range

Also what are you using to check the fuel pressure and where are you tapping into the system? Off the schrader valve port on the rail?

Ever get this figured out? Could also be a clogged return line? Something to try. Hope this helps, Eric L

                      modified

i drilled a hole on the inside of the fuel pump. on the return near the top. its louder, but no codes and im back to regular pressure.

fuel pressure clogged at the pump assembly. where the hard line meets the pump. drilled out the inside of the return line and fixed the pressure problem
still have the ig prob. car will start itself in key on position, but not if you hold the brakes

i drilled the return side of the pump assembly, on the inside. it dropped pressure to stock immediately.
