Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Just a quick side note. My wife just looked over my shoulder at your profile pick of the front of your car and asked, "is that the new 2010 camaro? I like it!" Keep in mind, I have a 2001 SS that she sees every day when she pulls her car into the garage.

No, its a 2002. haha, Thats my 4yr old daughter who LOVES the Camaro can you tell she loves it? Thats funny. Thanks everyone for the comments and advice.
Yeah I was honestly afraid of that after hearing about the timing chain snapping. That's never a good thing when the crank and cam are no longer in sync.
It was a dice roll hoping there were no more issues, if it has any bent valves it will be sitting for awhile until I get the cachunk to do a 383 stroker. About $8000
Looks like its time for new heads when you swap the cam. . . Personally, I would start acquiring parts for the top end rebuild until you have everything you need. After you have everything, you can buy a couple cases of beer, and have some friends over who have done the work a time or two before. . .
I think youll be pretty happy with it, cake to do if your already have an ls motor, just make sure its 2002 or older. Swap everything over, intake to oil pan(leave the heads), drill the one hole for the alternator, take it for a tune and your done.

I'm also putting a 224 cam with some hardend pushrods and springs its going on a 6 spd car. I love the tourqe of the 5.3 so I'm kinda looking forward to plus its cheap. I'm keeping my 5.7 to rebuild ar sell or whatever, and I'll be able to drive my car again. Sman what do you spin yours to? On our Tahoe it shifts about 5500 with all the tourqe in the midrange.
I assume your going with thels6 intake then? How often is the car driven? If its daily or sees a good amount of use Id go with a 220 vs 224. Smaller displacement makes the cam act bigger, ie a 224 in a ls1 would have similar manners and tuneability to a 220 in the 5.3. The limitter on my car is around 62 or 6300 and shifts pretty darn close to that, that lines it up to be right in the stock cams power-band. Ill go get my dyno sheet, hang on.
