Worst thing you can do to those fuel pumps is run low on gas in the gas tank. The gas actually keeps the electric fuel pump cool and lubricated. When you start running low on gas these pumps start to get hot and the motor will burn up in side them. I have removed these pumps and found the cases on them chared. So try to keep at least 1/4 tank of gas in your gas tank or you could burn one of these fuel pumps up.

yes it is, so you will either have to drop it or cut a trap door.

Your welcome Joel! I hope it works out for you. Im not making any promises that it will, but it worked fine when I took it out. It has MAYBE 5K miles on it (previous owner replaced it with OEM unit)

I will come over and help you with the trap door. I have a diagram with measurement somewhere around here...

Did you ever check the fuel pressure with a guage? If so what was the pressure?

Thanks muscle, but there is no way i'm cutting a hole in my floor. I need to change my cat back anyways. today when I went out there to try starting it. It backfired and sputtered then died, I could hear the fuel pump underneath and under the hood. So tommorow I plan on changing the fuel filter to see what happens. I haven't checked the pressure yet.

You will need to at least partially drop the axle too. Not a big deal if youve done it before and the bolts turn, but stock bolts are a ***** and usually require a sawzall.
