  • Actual Weight of 1994 Base Firebird??

I'm looking for folks that have actually weighed there Firebirds if possible. The car came as a 3.4 V6 with the 4l60e. It was optioned with T-Tops, Manual seats, A/C, Power Windows, and Locks. All the research I have gathered is showing conflicting results. Some sites show the weight to be around 3500-3600 and a few even go as low as 3250. This may not seem like a big difference but I am turning this into a Street/Strip car so every bit helps. If I had a starting point to start estimating what I've already removed, it would help with the rest of the building decisions. I've already removed the HVAC, blower motor, heater core, back seat, spare tire and jack, washer tank and lines, wiper arms and motor, ABS system, horn, and airbags. I also removed the dash as I plan on making my own for convience. It would be nice to have a rough estimate to base my build on instead of towing it to a scale. Any Ideas?

    Thanks,

    Dave

    Taken from another site...
"Since the 1LEs were stripped of heavy or power-robbing, expensive, and sissy-ish air-conditioning, monster stereo systems, power leather seats, automatic door locks, power trunk, cruise control, and flimsy T-tops, they were very lightweight and affordably in-expensive cars, which also contributed to the 1LE's allure. (my 1994 fourth generation 1LE Z/28 weighs 3,100 pounds wet!)"

"Flimsy t-tops" ? "sissy-ish air-conditioning" ? Wow is that guy trying to make his dick feel larger having a 1LE.

Thanks guys for the quick replies. Now I have a little more knowledge as to what the finished weight should be around.

Seems a little low to me. I was thinking maybe a base 3.4 firebird could be around 3200-3300 but w/ the LT1 and Z28 package I don't think that is possible unless other things have been done to it that haven't been stated in the article but I'm sure other people will chime in with their inputs to this.

FWIW, my 1994 z28 hardtop auto with quite a few power options weighed in at 3480 minus driver with a quater tank of gas. After headers, catback, air pump delete, sway bar delete, and spare tire delete it weighed in at 3420 minus driver with quater tank of gas. My loaded 1997 SS weighs pretty much the same give or take 20 lbs. Eric L
