  • Power windows not working

So after going to St. Ignace and back this past weekend. Monday I go to work, then go to the drive thru for lunch and everything is fine. Get out of work and the damn driver window won't go down or up, and I left it cracked cause it was hot out. So luckily it hasn't rained all week like it was supposed to.

Yesterday I went and got a new switch and that wasn't the problem. So today I tore the door apart hoping to find something unplugged, disconnected, anything that would save me buying a new motor. Well I did, the motor was unplugged. Plugged it back in, works fine.

My question is, has anybody had this happen or heard of it? The female receptacle on the motor is on the top side pointing almost straight up, seems like that would keep it snapped in there and not vibrate out. Anyway, it made my night to have my window back!!!!

Nothing was broke either, it clicked and locked in when I plugged it back in too.

I've never heard of that one either. Had you or anyone else ever been in the door before? Necessary replacement of the OEM motors happens pretty often on our cars (did my passenger side just a few months ago). At least it was an easy fix. I know what you mean about missing the ability to raise/lower the windows.

that is a new one. if your motor was toast i would not be suprised, they go pretty often in these cars.

it seems the passanger side ones go the most. i replaced the passanger side on like a month after i got my SS...and my step dad and I replaced the passanger side motor in their trans-am with like 6k miles on it!!! they are junk for some reason or another....when they start getting slow...that's a sign they're getting tired

Why are power windows such a kick in the nuts on Pontiacs??
I know people that have been driving beater cars with power everything under the sun, and have never replaced a window motor.
Someone at Pontiac has to be fired over this!
And for anyone that cares, this isn't sarcasm. I've owned 5 Pontiacs now, all of them have done it.

part of the reason these motors suck is bc of the huge size of our windows. It puts a lot of wear on them.
