Who has the best tuner?

Looking to buy a tuner so i am wanting some advice. should i go with a hand held or lap top progam?

Handheld tuners are worthless get one for you laptop for sure. HPtuners is great.

Don't waste your time or money on a hand held device like Hypertech, Superchips, Diablo, etc.

I use and recommend EFILive Flashscan for my tuning needs. EFILive is however releasing it's hand held tuner that will allow full tuning of your car w/o the extra expense of buying a laptop. It will even allow you to hook up a wideband O2 sensor for accurate scanning right to the device like the Laptop version. You may want to seriously consider that option.

If all someone wants is a code reader then I suggest the LS1M software for Palm Pilots. I have owned and used it for a few years before getting EFILive. It not only retrieves codes and clears the MIL it also scans and you can import the files directly into Excel or EFILive. Works great on my Camaro, Silverado, and even worked on my wife's L67 3.8L GTP Grand Prix displaying O2 voltages, TPS, Boost, LTFTs, etc. Plus when you are not scanning or code reading you still have a Palm to play games with or use a mapping program.

It's not a tunning software but it is always good to know what inexpensive scannig/code retrieving products are available on the market. Plus you don't need an expensive Palm, I got a used one from eBay for $18 three years ago. Just be sure it will work on your car year/model.

Aprox. how much does the software cost as for a laptop? i think i need to replace the secondary air pump and its a dealer only item about $288 my cost so if i got a program i could just tune out the secondary air right?

$650-$800 depending on options and brand, and yes you can tune things like that out.

wow....didnt think they were that much. How hard is it to operate and tune the car? does it warn you if you are doing something stupid as far as tuning goes?

Nope it take hours of tuning to get used to and you must read over many thing before you begin from what I got out of it.
