  • Head Work Help Needed

Hey guys my dad bought a set of L92's complete for a really great price for his '62 vette project. They had a couple nicks in them but nothing that can't heli-arced and resurfaced. But when we took them to the guy that was going to do them we noticed that one of the intake guides on the bowl side had a little nick in it. It will obviously need the old guide pressed out and a new one pressed in, but we were wondering if the part that is cracked in the head casting could be heli-arched and smoothed back out and if someone knew anyone that could do it... Thanks in advance!!!

I would say your best bet is to get the old guide out and see how far the crack goes??

Being a cast iron head the crack could go in a different direction inside by the guide.

I would have it sonic checked to see if the crack hits any water jackets.

I thought all LS series heads were aluminum... But we are definitely going to take the guide out and see how far the crack goes.

Worst case scenario if it ends up being to expensive we can just buy a new bare head for $200.

        Sorry, my bad.

I think when I saw the year of the Vett I forgot about the type of head it was
