Put a brand new optispark on the lt1 tonight and it still wont start.
The problem with the car is ..
It just completely missing the compression stroke, its getting gas and its getting spark because its backfiring and i have gone through this multiple times.

This car ran just fine before. all i did was replace the head gaskets and put new head bolts in. the valve lash is perfect, no leaks anywhere, brand new optispark is on right, spark plugs are wet with fuel, its backfiring, so its getting spark.

Im at a dead end, i have absolutely no idea whats wrong with this piece of shit lt1

we checked that it was in the notched groove two times to make sure it was in there good. After i replaced the head gaskets & bolts i tried firing with the working optispark that was on there previously and it did the exact same thing its doing now that i have a brand new opti on there. i just thought the opti was bad so now i know its the a opti problem

JC, Take a deep breath, recheck all the plug wires for correct position both on opti and correct cyl. If they are correct, then pull just the cap off the opti crank engine over by hand to top dead center, check that rotor is at # 1 position for firing. It is very posible for opti to be installed in slot rather than drive hole. We had this problem on B's car after rebuild. Only way to guarentee opti is in right position is to take off cover. I know PIA.

I am going to do that larry, ill try and get to that today if i can get it apart before work, if not tomorrow for sure

The motor just sounds like its cranking really easy now, that's what led me to believe a compression issue .. i just don't see how it would have one because its a brand new engine and it ran like a top until i pulled these heads off.

                    this is so aggravating haha

You could try a compression test

yeah im going to do that. i cant think of how i would lose my compression stroke all of a sudden but I have been meaning to do that.

i just got inside from tinkering with it and i noticed a few of the spark plug wires were wrong so i put those on the correct plug and noticed my CPS kind of popping out a little from my timing chain cover so i pushed that back in firmly and securely, cranked it over and still the same :sigh:

Forgot about timing sensor, wonder if that could be bad? I'm still thinking opti on wrong though, I did it on B's car I know it can be done. Same symptoms.
