Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

I bought an aftermarket opti and it crapped out immediatley. I recommend only delco opti's. Expensive yes, and ik other people have probably had good experinces with msd and such. Imo delcos are the only safe bet. Your pics are a prime example.
Strange when my GMPP opti shit after only 1500 miles and seeing the most of 5800 rpms when my MSD has been going strong for 4000 and seeing 6300 rpms. MSD FTW
Plus no one else warrents theirs besides MSD

OK something to think about. I read somewhere that when installing a new or used or refurbished opti to always measure the peg on the cam and the hole depth on the opti. Once in a while the drive peg is to long and bottoms out and makes the rotor run off balance.
This certainly seems to possible be the case in the picture.
Fix is to grind off end of drive peg.

In this case - not so much. If the dowel was too long and pushing against the optispark, it'd be pushing the rotor away from the optispark. The pics show the rotor being pushed into the optispark.
I have not had an issue with mine at all B and I have had it for 2yrs now.
Looks like your shield was crooked to me.

It all comes down to the fact that when that was put together it should have been check for clearance and it wasn't.
I have had stock rotors touch and you just have to work at it to get them to work.
If he didn't put the spacer plate back in then that could have been half the problem.
