  • Need some info on rear O2's

So I finally crawled under my car today to check out my job for next week and found out that I've got rear O2 sensors! I can't believe I didn't see them before

I'm starting this Sunday and my Y doesn't have provisions for rear O2's but I could make them, but they would still throw codes because I won't have cats. To my knowledge they're not used for anything but testing the catalytic converters right? So if I just unplug them until I get some sims it'll just throw codes and not hurt anything right?

    I can't believe I didn't see them. WOW

Correct, downstream do nothing but make sure the cats are functioning correctly.

Ok cool, I guess I'll just zip-tie them out of the way since my check engine light already comes on from a vacuum canister/evap emissions leak anyway. I do scan it every so often though just to make sure nothing else occurs.

      Hope this job goes well!

You can also tune them out and just plug the bungs if any. Since sims fail quite often, most just get a tune after headers and cat removal.

Yep I'll end up doing that but I just don't have time/money for a tune right now. At least it'll run fine without them.

Your car will be just fine, the ses light will be on but its no big deal. Start saving for a tune and you'll be very happy afterwards.

Currently saving for a head/cam swap and intake/TB...basically gonna build this motor and hope the bottom end holds. Planning on some AFR mongoose heads so it's going to be a while whilst only making $50/week at school unless I sell my dirtbike in spring. Might also have connections to get a free FAST manifold that isn't on the market yet. Wonder what kind of gas mileage I'd get with a .560 lift on the intake...
