Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

I have an 01 SS Camaro and the service engine soon light is constantly coming on, its the same code everytime; the secondary air injection system malfunction. I want to remove the air pump (because of the constant code and it is making an awful sound that makes the car sound like a beater) but have no idea where to start and also do I have to do something to the computer so it doesnt throw the code since it wont have it.
Any information would greatly appreciated.

from underneath the car you can remove the two or three bolts to open the plastic trap door, when doing this you will see the air pump right in that hole there below the headlight. Just remove the bolts holding it on and then disconnect the wiring. Next you will have to remove the big black air tubes connecting to the manifolds on each side, from there it is pretty easy to just pull all the hoses and such out. There MIGHT be a vaccum line on the 01 cars, I know my 99 didnt have one though. It should be obvious when you are removing everything. If you do have one of those you will just have to plug it with something. From there you will have to buy blockoff plates to block off where the manifolds connect to the AIR hoses. I got mine at speedinc.com for like 10 bucks? But you could probably make your own if you have some metal. After that you will have to have the AIR system tuned out to avoid a light coming up. I have the HPtuners program so we just tuned it out via that.
There was a Howto on ls1tech that I used. If I find it I will post it here. Good luck! Its super easy to take off. I removed mine moreso to clean up the engine bay than anything else haha.

there are several more stickied in the external engine forum on ls1tech.
That's the one I was just going to post.. I, also, cut the ends off my airtubes and put them on over the cheap pieces of aluminum they sell you to covers the holes where the air tubes went..
