Alright here's the scoop.
Issue #1:
My passenger window motor is about dead and my driver side has already slowed down since i replaced it.
Issue #2:
My car still has its original cloth door panels. Ok thats not the problem, but they dont match my LS1 leather interior.
Therefore even though hardly anyone ever notices this, Ive always wanted to get leather door panels.
Issue #2a:
I would need leather/crank door panels. I would imagine this is at least rare - if it even exists at all. can anyone comfirm this?
An alternative would be re-upholstering a cloth panel - probably what i would have to do.
Issue #3:
I want to retain my power locks and mirrors. Were there switch banks that retain the powerlocks/mirrors but not windows? I guess worst case i could leave the window switches there.
I hate the stupid power windows. The whole system is junk, the motors, the wiring, the switch banks that break, and definitely even the switches that break when you push them too hard (IE: the necessary force to activate the switch). Id honestly rather lean over and crank the damn thing because that would be faster anyway. Let alone the weight savings and a permanent fix instead of a temprorary one. I also like the simplicity of crank windows anyway.
So quick poll: is this something you would attempt if you were in my shoes? In order to do this i would probably need to find complete doors for the parts... and the panels seperately unless i got really lucky. Im not making any hasty decisions - i have no problem physically pulling/pushing the stupid thing up and down for the time being.
