Headers or rockers?

what's wrong with the rockers on the lt1?

The LT1s are a 1.5 ratio. When people do cam swaps or even just for a little boost in power, they'll replace the rockers with 1.6 ratio rockers and new springs.

Btw, for those that think pacesetters always fit great - just happened to see this thread. Of the inputs currently in there, it's about 50/50 on whether they fit good or not. I'm not saying they don't, but what I'm saying is the fitment of almost all the headers you can buy are more dependent on the vehicle that it's being installed on.

hmm, Brian you said that you had a problem with the headers hitting your k-member after you changed mounts. Could it have been solved by shaving down the polyurethane? If I change my motor mounts I'll probably go with solid ones or some very hard polyurethane, mostly because I like to feel my car shake. Now thinking about the LPP's and a multi-piece Ypipe that I can cut and weld to fit...think MIG welding would work?

Another question: Do LS1 cars normally shake at idle? I notice mine does a little bit around 1k rpm at idle and I'm not sure if the previous owners did anything for a cam but probably not.

Actually, Vinnie, it was pretty crazy.. When I first installed the headers the fitment was EXCELLENT - but it was brand new poly mounts on the engine and trans. From what I've come to understand, it only takes about 50 miles for the poly mounts to settle, and thus my headers sagged down and are now pretty much against the k-frame. Solid mounts would definitely fix that, though.

Just found out I can get a brand new pair of LS6 heads for $600...but they're $600! I know that it's a pretty good deal but I don't think I can afford them. Even though I do have LS6 heads as a planned mod in the future. Or could I do just as well with a port/polish on mine?
