MSD 8.5mm Wire routing

Hey guys, looking at putting MSD 8.5 mm wires on my car. Will they fit in the current wireholders, or do most people buy new ones, squeeze them in the old ones or re-route them? What do you do? Thanks

if you havent already bought them, do yourself a favor and just stick with AC Delcos. Im assuming you are getting the "ready to go" wires that are already the correct length, in which case you should be fine ... but i, personally, will never run an aftermarket wire again. The crimping is where you run into the most problems and i will say MSDs were the best aftermarket wire i tried.

I honestly dont know how i would handle replacing the wires on a car with the stock manifolds, its just a complete PITA.

With my pacesetter headers, i deleted ALL the factory looms and just let the wires hang free in the stock routing. it only took 2 or 3 zip ties to keep them out of harms way (headers).

With stock manifolds i dont think you have a choice but to use the stock looms. Mine were all rusted up and unusable, so good luck!

Yeah there really not needed unless you have spark problems im using ac delco's 7.5's and love them

I have MSD 8.5's. I run mine along the bottom of the motor and I hug the block, I zip tie them every chance I get to keep them away from the headers. I have an Alt. relocation kit so I run them through the bracket there too.

That was exactly the reason that I was asking. The looms are still usable, but I need to make a decision today on what I am putting in there. I can get the MSD 8.5mm but am worried about the routing. I really don't want to be shoving stuff in there, but I can get the MSDs with NGK plugs for $68 vs AC Delcos 180 for the wires and $13/plug.

I seem to remember paying like $60 at murrays.

NGK TR55/TR6s plugs are less than 3 a peice on summit also.

Yup, thats through the dealership. I can't find anywhere else local that has AC Delco.

you dont have an autozone or anything around you? NAPA? pep boys?

Autozone carries LTT or something like that, NAPA carries 8.8mm accels, Autovalue has there own in house brand. Idk, I can't find AC Delcos. This is turning out to be a major pita.

When my 6 was stock, I ran the super sonducters through the OEM looms. They were a little tight in there, but I knew they weren't going anywhere. Of course an 8 will be different. Just throwing out the $0.02. I always ran Mallory Pro Sidewinders with the '79 and (not to jack the thread) could actually feel a difference between Accels and the Mallorys.

Damn didn't see your post Joel. Threw a little weight around at the dealership and ended up getting the wires for 90 and the plugs for 8 a piece. Not as good of a deal as the MSDs but I really don't think that I need them right now and it would be too much of a pain to route them. Thanks for the help guys.

thats a pretty good deal I was going to say I can get my price for them at the dealer and if you gave me money i could order them but that worked out good too
