  • Finally got some exhaust vids

After installing my longtubes and ORY to go along with my DMH cutout and flowmaster catback, I have been wanting to get a good video for some time now. My room mate got his hands on a G-tech accelerometer for the day so we went out and had some fun.

Very nice. Hoping to do headers and Y-pipe if and when I've got the money and time. Probably next spring after school, then back up for the summer. Thinking on BBK's from Summit because they're cheap and ceramic coated. How much does the cutout help it?

If you run a Flowmaster a cut-out help's big time.
If you run a Borla or something similar then it's just good for noise

I've seen this proven with 2 cars I worked on from this site.

But Flowmaster has a really nice sound

                    Car sounds very good Brett.

Agreed with Kyle - even Steve commented today how the cutout actually makes my car lose some of the torqu-y-ness.

I bet with the cutout though you're making more power in the upper rev's. I read a thread before over at thirdgen about exhaust backpressure, it said that all it does is retune the power curve.

The cutout made a huge difference for me with the flowmaster. Here is a dyno graph from this past fall, cutout closed then open when all I had was a lid and cutout.
