Another gremlin in the SS!

i was cruising and the check engine light started flashing, went to autozone and got it scanned

PO302 Cylinder 2 missfire detected
PO352IIgnition coil 2 Control Circuit

I went home switched the 2nd/4th cylinder coil packs around, went and drove the car around and it ran fine even at WOT, then on the way home it started running like crap again, and throwing the same codes. What could this be

It sounds to me like the coil for cylinder 2 is going bad but I'm not too familiar with LS1s. Is there any possibility of wire burn on the LS1 spark wires against a header or something?

the wire isn't burnt i switched the coils around, and it didn't move the problem

I would check your spark plugs then.

check plugs wires and wires going to the coil

Yeah... the codes definitely means something's not firing correctly on cylinder two. If the coil and wire is OK check the spark plug itself. But I don't know if a plug would cause the cylinder 2 coil circuit failure? That sounds like something electrical with cylinder two's ignition isn't right like a shorted wire or the coil itself.. Hopefully someone with more LS1 experience can jump in and offer an opinion.

took the plug out and it wasn't too bad, i cleaned it and put it back in, also when the check engine light flashes i can go out and unplug the cylinder 2 coil pack and plug it back in and it will temporarly fix it

sounds like your getting a short to the coil, you unplug it and it resets, check the plug itself, if the spark plug is good and the coil swop didnt fix it check the electrical, could be a computer problem, if un plug the power it could reset that particuler problem.

Whens the last time you did wires? You just did headers, im still guessing its the wire. Try swapping wires with another coil. And if a new plug doesnt fix it its got to be the coil.

Try pulling a wire off of another vehicle and see if it corrects the problem...if everything is working fine but you still get the light it could be the sensor going bad. Good luck with it though

tried switching wires, and same thing it ran great for a while the randomly it will just shut the 2nd cylinder off, and i can pop the hood while it's runnng and unplug that coil pack and plug it back in and its good?

Try this, when car is in failing state, while running, try and wiggle the wires at the plug to coil pack for cyl. 2. don't unplug it though. Sometimes wires will break inside the insulation and thats all thats holding them together.

swap the whole coils and bracket from side to side.
sometimes the coil harness on the bracket gets damaged
if its the coil harness your problem would move to cylinder 7

Thanks for the help guys, i switched the plug wires, from cyl 2 and 4, and she's been running good even at WOT. cruised gratiot last night and took it to the ol wild woodys car show and then went on a fun run, all the way to 26 and north ave. without any hickups
