the parking brake was snapped on my car when i bought it. I got it replaced today. The passenger side locks good. the driver side doesnt. The spring on the passenger side is firm when you pull it out and it reacts back to the caliper right away. On the driver side you can easily move it by hand. Anyone had this issue before or know what it might be? The one side should be enough to hold me anyway so Im not to concerned would just be nice to have it fixed.

I believe there's some sort of adjustment you're supposed to be able to do with the parking break - but I don't know if that would solve a "sloppy" feel. When you pull the e-brake does it hold the driver's side at all or does it still feel that sloppy?
Sounds like the spring or whatever that keeps it 'firm' (from your description) is bad.Last edited by meissen; April 22nd, 2009, 06:33 AM.- Brian Meissen

Sounds like the arm is not located correctly inside the drum part of the rotor. The parking brakes are drum pad type and the drum is the center part of your rotor of the back disk brakes. There is an adj screw to adj the pads on the back of the plate near center. Best thing is to remove caliper & rotor and check out arm and location. Could be something very simple.sigpic
