  • Tune for Hot Cam?

Ok I thought I was done modding my car for a while so I got my car tuned a few months ago by steve at s&b tuning and now I just came across a great deal on a Ls1 hotcam so im thinking of buying it so I called steve and he said another 150 to tune it for the cam I really dont want to pay to have the car tuned again. Is there any way it will run decent with such a small cam swap?

I assuming it will #1 Idle like shit #2 run way to lean at wot throttle even with such a small cam am I wrong?

I would just like 30-40more hp and some more exhaust sound Im buddy has one with 20kmiles and the ls6 valve springs he said I can have it for 120 bucks so I know theres better cams out there but for 120 bucks and considering I really only want a small cam I think Im going with it

You have to tune for an aftermaket cam PEROID!!! No ifs ands or butts if you want to take full advantage of it and have the car run well it needs a tune.

Yep you might aswell include that in the budget package, and if your doing the cam why not consider 1:6 roller rockers.

LS1 cars have 1.7 rockers from the factory and there is usually no reason to swap them for 1.8s

Oh my mistake, thanks for the correction. Not real familier with LSX engines. Makes the cost even less!

and you would have to use better springs than the ls6's with more lift

The ls6 springs are the springs that come in a ls hot cam kit the cams lift is only .525 and the duration is 218/220

He knows, he meant if you upped to 1.8 rockers you would need new springs. In my honest opinion, coming from a guy that ran a small cam like that, either go with something bigger or save for other mods because its not worth it for the time and money wen a much more efficient cam is $250 more.
