Tinted glass and the law

im not trying to steal your thread but how bad would cops be on silver tint.

because you can't see in at all, I think they would be on that like stink on sh*t. That is the whole issue its their safety, when they approach the car.

I had 35% on the Trans Am and got pulled over for it once, just a warning. 20% on the sides and 5% on rear of the sonoma, never had an issue. 20% all around on the vette and nothing so far. My friend with 5% around on his civic got pulled over 3 times in about a month and finally the 3rd time was a state trooper who wrote a fix-it ticket. I love the look tint gives. I think if you stay away from 5% on the sides you shouldn't have too much trouble, but it's those scenerios like Joel had that will get you caught. It's just a reason for a cop to pull you over. If your driving during the day in traffic, most of the time they don't bother unless its super blatent like 5% around.

I don't really understand it. Everytime I have been pulled over or been with someone who has, the window is rolled down well before the cop even approaches the car making the whole law behind the tint out the window so to speak. I think instead of having tint laws, they should have a law that your window must be rolled down before the officer approaches the car. I mean, there is no case where when your pulled over that you do not have to roll down your windows, so to have to have the cop ask you to roll down the window or approach the car with it up is just ignorant on the drivers part.

I think the reason is because of our equally infringing seatbelt laws.

x2. I always roll both windows down because sometimes they approach from the passenger side. I also put my hazard lights on immediately and find a safe place to pull over. officers seem to appreciate that.

even though i got pulled over for the tint, the cop was just doing his job and i had no problem with him. you respect them, they *usually* respect you back. I was honest with the guy and said i like to take care of my truck which sits in a parking lot all the time so i took a chance. He was like fair enough, I'll just remind you that the law is 'bla bla bla' and you WILL get pulled over for it around here, or anywhere in the state.

what if your front window doesnt roll down? no joke I once had a car that the drivers window would not roll down...

Your completely SOL. Haha. I would definitely not open the door though. If I were an officer, id be seriously freaked if some dude just started getting out of the car when I pulled him over.

Window Tint Update

Hi All,

Here are some pictures of the recent window tint. It's 35% all around. After I took the pictures, I pulled the driver side rear view mirror for repaint. Found a local guy to do my paint work. The mirrior is his first project. The bumper cover is next.

I didnt know that 35% was even that dark, mmhh that may be what I go on my front windows... LOOKS GREAT!

Only looks darker because there's less windows in the Camaro.
