  • !side molding/emblems. Pics wanted

I'm thinking about taking my side molding off. I'm for sure taking the "Trans Am" emblems off but need to see a few more pics of people's 98+ 'birds with the door and fender molding taken off. I've never liked the molding but think it might look really goofy with it off.

*edit* Guess this should of been in the appearance thread but its for a 4th gen 'bird.

I'd leave the emblems but take the molding off. Its super easy to do on a really hot day, just use some fishing line or something similiar to get behind the molding and then use some sort of goo remover to get the rest of the residue off. (I used prep-o-sol) I'm at school right now so I cannot post pics, but I did this to my old firebird and I loved it, I am planning on doing it to the current car this summer. it just makes the car look nice and smooth, not goofy at all.

ya remove the molding!! when i did it on my truck i used a heat gun to heat it up and peeled it really fast before it cooled down and it got most of the glue off with the molding then used a paint safe adhesive remover

I'm with the majority, don't get rid of the emblems, but ditch that molding!

I took the sidemolding off of my car and left the emblems on, but im not sre if i wana take the emblems off or not. It dont look goofy with them on but i think it would give the car a smuch sleeker look with both off.

Jonny's old Turbo TA had the moldings and was debadged. I'm sure he will get in here and post a few pics.

                      EDIT
I was bored so I stole some off of his Fquick page

And it looks like he still has the molding on but not the badges

I love how a lot of you guys are saying look at your cars but they are Camaros!

For you guys that are saying take the molding off but leave the emblems you are crazy. If I was going to take one of the two off I'd be tearing off the emblems. To me emblems just looks so.....umm.....out of place(?). Even on my Grand Marquis I tore them off because they look like they were just tossed on. I LOVE Larry's Trans Am but his car with the emblems with no side moldings looks horrible. Sorry Larry..... I'd still trade my jalopy for yours in a second!

thats exactly why all of our cars are unique, we all have different tastes, personally I love my car to still say "trans am" because thats the only thing that tells morons what type of car it is. to each their own, and I'm sure yours will look good whatever you decide

lol, I was kind of wondering why people were talking about the camaros in here. my sig pic is sans emblems and moldings on a 4th gen t/a; here's another pic that's a little bigger. IMO it looks way cleaner this way. (And it's not like anybody even NEEDS the emblems on the side to tell them what these cars are. ) edit: no offense to the guy above me, i had this written before i read your post, lol
