  • Panhard bar help, instructions needed

I got an adjustable panhard bar for Christmas and started putting it on today, anyways get it most on and try to find out how to adjust it and the instructions are for a non adjustable unit. Could someone tell me how to or take a pic of their instructions? It is the on car adjustable one. Thanks.

measure out the stock one, adjust the one you have to about the same lenght by loosening the jam nuts on the ends and rotating them, turning one way extends the bar while turning the other makes it smaller. Then you wanna get the rear end in the air and center the rear tires from the back of the wheel wells.

Do you center the rear tires by adjusting the jam nuts? Also, does it matter that the car is on a hoist?

yes you center them by removing the jam nuts. also if its on a 2 post lift, which I believe it is, then you should be fine centering the rear. It just can't be adjusted with the suspension loaded lol

Sounds like one hand doesn't know what the other's doing where you got it from. Good thing that there are others who have done this before.

So it sounds like I have 2 statements which contradict the other. So do i tighten the bolts that hold the bar in ON the hoist and ajust OFF the hoist or the other way around?

you need to adjust it when its in the air but put it down to check and make sure it is actually centered and then you can tighten it

                  1. measure and set panhard length same as original.
                  2. Lower car so rear end is setting on the wheels or rearend is at ride height.
                  3. Measure distance from tire to inner wheel well on each side. They should be equal.
                  4. If not equal then raise back up and adjust panhard bar apropriately.
                  5. If you had to adjust in step 4, then repeat 3 through 5. Untill each side is the same.

Reason it has to be at ride height is when rear is hanging down panhard bar can pull it to one side. Good luck, at least now your dealing with all new bolts.

Or.....If you can find a four wheel alignment rack, that way the wheels will move with the weight on them.

normally any suspension piece that has a bushing should be torqued at ride height. Poly bushings dont really need to be but I still recommend it.
