  • Anyone know the thread specs on an ls oil pan?

I cant a filter to thread on my BRAND NEW oil pan, im kinda dead in the water. Id like to run a die up the threads for the filter but I cant figure out what size they are.

Pan is a BRAND NEW pan from a GM dealer for a camaro. Ive tried k&n, purolator, mobile1, ac delco, and even a fram for shits and giggles. No dice.

The "bung" that comes out with threads (male end) is what you want to re-die? because no oil filters (female end) will thread onto it?

Bingo! Looks like it comes out too? Like you could put a socket or wrench on it?

ok i have no idea what the threads are. haha. sorry spence. do u have a thread guage to get the threads/inch count? then take a caliper and measure the diameter to the outside of the threads?

ballpark... it would be something like 3/4-14 or something like that right?

The closest thing I could find was m20x1.5(the tap threads in to the filter fine) But I couldnt even get the die started, it was like the thing sticking out was to big (which would explain why none of the filters went on)

Haha! The little prick came out, takes a 15/16's for future reference for anyone. And the this little threaded bung/nipple thing is HUGE! There is no way any of the standard filters would have fit, lol. Its TOTALLY different, like not even close. Guess im going to the auto parts store to try several hundred filters to see what fits, ROFLOL.
