  • Intake manifold leak?

Is this common in 4th gens? I don't have one, but I was reading an auction and saw it said something about how 4th gens have intake manifold leak problems...

Yes they are a common thing many times caused by a solid EGR line...part reason why people block it off becides getting rid of emmisions...other then that they are common. if you ever suspect having on spray something aerosol around the area and if you hear then engine kida rev up then you have a leak....

has nothing to do with egr since teh non egr engines still had the issue

the solid EGR tubes would flex from cooling/heating....causing it to move a minimal up and down...eventually happening enough to cause a leak...this is why many people that still have to worry about emmisions change over from a hard EGR line to the flexible one offered on later models

but there was an actual tsb and it was on every small block that was the actual cause of teh problem. if they had used rtv instead of the rubber gaskets it would have been fine, teh egr tubes cracked instead (which was a whole nother issue)
