  • Cam/Headers/Tune/Rear-End/Swaybar all Done!

As I've been saying for months, the Camaro (black, 3.8L Series II, A4 for those who are new) was going to get a makeover for spring break. Therefore, we've got pictures of before and after...

What happened was all performance. GT2 Camshaft, Pushrods, 105 lb Valve Springs, Modified Steel LS1 Valve Retainers, 2 new valve keepers (lost 'em lol), ceramic-coated Pacesetter headers and y-pipe, 180 degree high-flowing thermostat, new plugs/wires, 3.72 gears, Zexel-Torsen Limited Slip Differential, 32mm front swaybar (vs. 28mm stock), and heavyduty endlinks for the swaybar.

Coming soon is a new rear swaybar (it was given to me today; a V8 take-off, which is 18mm vs. my current 15mm one), rear swaybar endlinks, another front outter tie rod (already replaced one, might as well do the other), rear lower control arms, a shift kit, and a high-performance transmission servo.

Alright, so anyway, here are some pics:

After hardly starting (fans, intake were out, that's all):

    End of day one:

Another at end of day one:

My hand after day one, proving it a good day of work:

Okay, so I still have to clean up some of the plastic.. But the car runs so much better. I also got a send-in tune done while the thing was all torn apart and received the PCM back on the day we got everything together. It now shifts, during WOT, at 6500 RPM and can rev to 7000 RPM, and it sounds like an 8 almost all the way through the RPMs. I'll try to get video up soon.

Also, today I had my 3.73s/LSD installed. It's raining out, but I can still feel a difference. I can't wait for dry roads (though I might have to...)! And it corners so much better with the new front swaybar.

Wait it out a week or two for new vids, exterior/interior pics, and maybe some burnouts!

I heard Z28s are 30mm and SSs are 32mm from SLP...

I have some pics, but I'm taking better ones soon..

          EDIT: You're right. The Pre-2000s had 32s. '00-02 had 35s.

i actually have a 32mm front chillen here in my room cause i bought the 32mm front and 22mm rear as a package from spohn, get under the car and realized the stocker is ****'n huge already yep 35mm.....

oh well....i just noticed the valve covers got a paint job too...looks really nice! if i had a V6 F-Body... i woulda gone the same route as you!....maybe a turbo as well

parts are so inexpensive for the V6's compared to the V8's

You'd need to eat 3 bowls of that import to equal the power found in just 1 bowl of LS1!

                Thanks, guys!

I wanted to go the turbo route, but figured it'd be more fun to install the cam and a lot cheaper. The turbo would be around $3500-4500 to buy a kit (I know nothing about them so it'd be hard to customize one lol) and altogether this here swap (including gears/installation of them) was approximately $1000... HUGE bang for the buck.

awesome!! pretty much what id like to do to my Z this summer, we'll see if i get the $ to or not though.

And like ive offered before... if you want a stock, strong running LT1 to measure up against just say the word Im curious to see what kind of punch that 3.8 has, spinning that kind of rpm is pretty impressive!

actually i think he might take me if we go from a dig. it might go the other way from a roll though, remember me catching that LS1 vette off guard?

hell if he put a 3000 stall in there and slicks on it, theres not a doubt in my mind he'd be racking up the v8 kills.
