  • ls1 motor mounts

The clam shells on an ls1, does it matter which way they go, like up/down? they fit either way and im trying to get the v8 in the cradle tonight!

I really need to know this by tomorrow so I can get this thing back together! A simple picture of installed ls1 mounts would suffice.

Ok Spencer I'm pretty sure that the little metal tabs that stick out the sides, the ones that run the same way as the motor are supposed to sit on the top part of the iron mount on the k member. If your not sure what I mean take one of the mounts and try and fit just that on the k member and run the bolt through it, if its the correct way it should only be able to drop onto the mount that way because of those little tabs. Let me know if it doesn't make any sense.

THANK YOU for the reply, would you believe I have this question posted on 3 boards for hours and this is the first reply that helps me in any way? I didnt know these things were so high tech, haha.

        Thanks again Jeff.

lol I meant to keep my old set on my LS1 because I got new clamshells and everything but ended up selling them so I was mocking up the mounts myself today trying to figure it out as well. Here is a pic just for others.

I am referring to the small metal tab you see sticking out at the bottom of this picture. This makes sense to me but please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

i never checked mine lol just bolted them on the motor and threw it in, no issues.

i will say this tho you can get the poly mount inserts for cheap from like autozone.murrays. but they arnt fun to put in. gotta drill out the rivits and use bolts to pull the clam shells together tightly like in jeffs pic.
might as well do it, makes a nice difference

ss4matt must have missed that since he said i sold him the wrong mounts
