Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
Just wondering if I install a cutout, will I actually feel a difference? Estimated HP/tq gains? Worth the money? What brand did/do you recommend? Where to install it in the exhast system? Just curious, thanks

For a electric cutout, I recommend the Race Ready Performance cutouts. They do cost more then others but they are the only electric cutouts with a lifetime warranty.

What kind of exhaust do you currently have on the car? That will be a big determining factor as to how much of a gain that you pick up. If exhaust is stock, you could see 20rwhp. The thing that is so attractive about a stock catback and cutouts, is that you can have the quietest possible f-body when needed, and close to the loudest when you feel like being completely obnoxious.

If this were true I think everyone on the site would have a cutout.
The more modded your car is the more your going to gain from it depending on how restrictive your exhaust is. A stock car with stock exhaust might only see like 5RWHP where as a car thats cammed with headers and a stock catback might see something more like 15RWHP.
There is a guy on this site that dynoed open and closed and gained 20rwhp. I can't remember how modded he is though, I will see if I can find a post where he talks about it.

I picked up 20 rwhp on consecutive dyno runs with cutout open/closed. I had !cats, lid, and a flowmaster.

I felt a difference with the best flowing catback on the market, so i believe 20 with the stock POS.
What exhaust do you have again, Joel? Obviously not Flowmaster since you said it was the best flowing and we all know Flowmaster is barely better than stock...

Now see when I was running LT's ORY and a stock catback the car felt like it lost a lot of TQ down low when I opened the cutout. I mean it did feel stronger at like 4500+ and sounded mean as hell too.
